Dear Conference Participants:
Welcome to our Second Annual Mental Health Matters Conference.
Last year’s conference was an overwhelming success. Without the advocacy and dedication of Dr. Carlton Lampkins, this conference may have never happened. We would like to recognize him for all of his efforts and for making sure this conference and others like it, are available to provide a continued focus on the education of the whole child and the overall well-being of all students.
The connection between a student’s social and emotional well-being and to their success in school and life has been well-documented. As a result, a movement towards educating the whole student has become a critical necessity for schools today. By providing opportunities for staff members to enhance their knowledge and skills about mental health and strategies to support students, we will strengthen a student’s chances for overall educational and lifelong success. We all know that mental health really does matter!
Today, we have planned a full day conference with a variety of skilled and engaging presenters, who will stimulate your thinking and provide you with data and a cross-disciplinary perspective on mental health and wellness. Your attendance clearly indicates your commitment to improving all facets of the education process for young people.
On behalf of our students, thank you for attending. We wish you an enjoyable and valuable learning experience.
